About this Event
Lady Isabel Burton and the Burton Mausoleum
An illustrated talk with Dr Helen Brown
Join us for an engaging illustrated talk exploring the life of Lady Isabel Burton—author, explorer, and remarkable Victorian woman—and the story behind the Grade II* listed Burton Mausoleum.
Following the death of her husband, the famous explorer Sir Richard Francis Burton, Isabel commissioned the mausoleum that now stands at the heart of the Burton: Exploring Without Boundaries heritage project. This talk brings together biography, love, legacy, and Victorian attitudes to remembrance.
