Tuesday 11th Nov, 6.30-7pm (then the pub) • Quaker meeting house (43 st Giles) • All WelcomePhilosophical issues in Longtermism
Jakob is writing a DPhil thesis on the philosophical foundations of Longtermism – the view that we should assign priority to improving the long-term future of humanity. In this talk, he presents some of his research with a focus on population ethics and the question if the future would be better if it contained more happy people.
We heard that people wanted more time to chat after talks, so this time we’re just running one talk, then heading to the pub afterwards for a relaxed social with (hopefully) lots of happy people!
