Talk - Challenging Religious Extremism - Megan Mason NSS
Megan will visit Windsor Humanists on Monday 2nd November to talk about the important NSS campaign to counter religious extremism. Come along to find out what the NSS is doing and how we can help in Windsor and East Berkshire.
All are welcome.
The National Secular Society believes everyone has the right to hold their own beliefs. However, it also believes society should reject extremist religious ideas and that the state must not create conditions in which such extremism and radicalisation can flourish.
Religious extremism threatens social cohesion by creating division and hostility between communities. It can lead to violence and unrest and can oppress people within religious communities, including women, LGBT people, and dissenters. The NSS wants a society in which everyone, whatever their race, sex, sexuality, religion, or worldview, can live safely, and where extremist ideologies are challenged before they harm individuals and communities.
