Gareth Winrow is an author and researcher born and raised in Bolton, now living in Oxford. His latest book is a local, social and family history. Many of the stories in the book are linked to Bolton - including the brother of his great grandfather, who narrowly avoided the Pretoria Pit Disaster, and his 3xgreat grandfather who, in a rags-to-riches tale, climbed the social ladder to become manager of Pin Mill in Bolton.
