Join curator Anne Hodge and Education Officer Caomhán Mac Con Iomaire for an informal conversation exploring the exhibition Turner as Inspiration, followed by an open discussion with the audience.Since their bequest by Henry Vaughan in 1901, Turner’s beautiful watercolours have been displayed every January here at the Gallery. The works offer visitors a rare chance to witness the artist’s evolving vision — from tranquil English parklands to the atmospheric drama of Venice and the Alps. This year’s exhibition is further enriched by the inclusion of additional works by artists who found inspiration in Turner’s mastery of light, colour, and atmosphere.
This event is part of our Tuesday Talk and Tea series, an informal discussion about an aspect of the Gallery’s collection or an exhibition. It involves a short illustrated talk followed by a discussion with the audience over a cup of tea (or coffee, of course!).
- The talk will take place in the Education studio and will include tea/coffee biscuits and plenty of chat!
- The Education Studio is on level 1 of the Gallery and is fully accessible by lift from the Clare Street Entrance. It is at the same level as the Merrion Square Entrance. Toilets, accessible toilets, baby changing, and a Changing Places facility are located near the Studio and the Education Team are on-hand to support.
