Greater Manchester Citizens’ Assembly campaign event exploring what it takes to create a better world, decent lives and democracy for all.
About this Event

A fun, welcoming event, from the Greater Manchester Citizens’ Assembly campaign, exploring what it takes to create a better world decent lives and democracy for all. Enjoy performances, a film showcase, an art display, talks and creative activities. The day will feature inspiring voices from across Greater Manchester.

What would a people-powered Greater Manchester look like?

People across Greater Manchester have been demanding a seat at the decision-making table. This collaborative event, organised by the Greater Manchester Citizens’ Assembly Campaign, amplifies the call for a more participatory democracy in our city, asking crucial questions about what that could look like and what the impact could be for people’s lives.

The day will explore the power of Citizens Assemblies, hear from local democracy campaigns, make connections across communities and plan for how to transform Greater Manchester.

What if ordinary people were able to shape and scrutinise public decision-making on the things that affect all of us every day, like housing, transport and the cost of living?

Following in the footsteps of the region’s great changemakers, from the Chartists to the suffragettes, you are invited to come along, get creative and join this rallying call for a more people-powered future.

Everyone welcome!

The campaign is housed by the Sortition Foundation, a not-for-profit social enterprise whose mission is to promote the empowered use of citizens’ assemblies.

Suitable for 12+ (under 16s must have an accompanying adult).

  • FREE, ticketed.
  • Includes childcare for children up to age 12, featuring colouring and interactive games.
  • You do not need to be a British citizen to be part of a citizens’ assembly, you only need to be a resident of the relevant area.

If you require British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation please contact [email protected] or 0161 838 9190.
