Tactical Tracking & Counter-Tracking Essentials

Every human that moves through an environment leaves evidence of their passing. And that evidence tells a rich story, as long as you know how to read it. How to read that story is the art of tracking. A core skill for wilderness search & rescue teams, law enforcement fugitive trackers, military reconnaissance units, game wardens, and land managers, tactical tracking or mantracking is a rich and complex skillset. Tracking has a history as old as humanity, and it’s as much art as it is science. And its sister skill, tactical countertracking, can prove just as useful. In a nonpermissive environment where staying undetected can make or break the success of a mission, knowing how to evade and erase all evidence of your passing can literally be a lifesaver. These two complementary skillsets take a lifetime to master, but this 1-day course will give you the essentials to start you off right.

• How to go beyond footprints and look up, down, and all around for sign
• Tracking across challenging terrain - mud, gravel, hard surfaces, and more

• Building a basic quarry profile based on physical evidence
• How to work effectively as part of a tactical tracking team
• How to utilize basic countertracking skills to improve escape and evasion skills
• Applying basic psychology and human behavior to predict movement patterns
