The Quonset Hut is a spacious off-grid structure with a high curved ceiling and open layout. Designed with a military-style setup, it includes bunk beds, private lofts, a full kitchen, and a large common area to unwind after long days in the desert. A grill, fire pit, and outdoor deck overlook wide-open views of the mountains and plains.

Located on Pôr do Sol Ranch, a 1,000 acre stretch of remote West Texas terrain, the property features rugged hills, rocky outcrops, and natural beauty in every direction. It's quiet, isolated, and built for time off the grid.

Matt Barnett is the owner of Pôr do Sol Ranch and the founder of Bonetti Explosives. With decades of experience in the explosives and pyrotechnics industry, Matt has worked in some of the most high-impact environments out there- including avalanche control, cave blasting, demolition, and large-scale pyrotechnic setups.

Known for his precision and no-nonsense approach, Matt brings a rare blend of technical knowledge and field-tested wisdom. He’s led numerous courses on explosive safety and setup, always with a strong emphasis on control, clarity, and respect for the environment.

At the retreat, Matt leads live demonstrations where participants get an up-close look at real materials in action. You’ll observe the setup process, learn the safety protocols, and walk away with a whole new perspective on what it means to work with power.

Kelly is a former U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. With almost a decade of experience providing subject matter expertise in:

Kat Silva is the event manager of Pôr do Sol Ranch and handles all food preparation for the retreat. Originally from Brazil and now based in Texas, she brings skills to the kitchen and keeps everything on track behind the scenes. From managing logistics to answering questions, Kat is your go-to for anything you need while on the ranch.
