Table Rock Hike: Celebrate Treasure Valley Geology

The Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG), 2455 Old Penitentiary Rd, is pleased to announce a hike to Table Rock to commemorate four interpretive signs that the IMMG placed there in May. Join Eliza Schulz and Clint Cuzzo as they lead hikers up the trail to a flat area below the cross. They will meet hikers at 9:45am for a 10am start within steps of the IMMG in the Old Pen dirt parking lot near the Ridge to Rivers trail sign. They will lead you up the hillside at a relaxed pace. The hike is appropriate for children and adults who can hike for up to 2 hours with 800 ft. elevation gain on the way up, 45 minutes up and 35 minutes down for fit hikers. $5 public, Kids and IMMG members-Free.
Everyone must pre-register.
There will be a brief discussion at the landing where the 4 signs are located. Hikers have their choice after the discussion to hike to the top (not far) or head back down. There are no benches or restrooms at the landing or on Table Rock.
The signs were constructed and installed by the IMMG, originally in 2000, and were recently updated and re-installed on Table Rock in May, 2026.
Eliza and Clint will talk about the meaning behind the 4 signs, features of the hillside, the type of rocks, how the hills were formed, what produced the Treasure Valley below and more, as time permits.
Dress for the weather, bring water and snacks, as needed. There is an Outhouse in the parking lot at the trailhead..
It's important to register on Eventbrite with a functioning email address, and Very Important to check your email the evening before the hike in case the trip is canceled.
