Ta-Sur presents: Sunset at Gillman

Ta-Sur is a new venture created by seasoned musicians, Dita Jacob (vocalist) and Isuru Wijesoma (guitarist) in the summer of 2024. The dream of Ta-Sur was clear - to craft a unique musical experience that blends their passion for Western and Eastern music traditions. For their first appearance, Ta-Sur will bring to life the timeless hits of Grammy Award winning, Tedeschi Trucks Band for one night only. Expect a robust tapestry of blues, rock, jazz, Hindustani and gospel through collaborative arrangements, luminous singing and the instant fire of improvisation.

On Saturday, October 19th from 6pm to 8pm at The Blackbird, Ta-Sur will present Sunset at Gillman featuring world class musicians - Pablo Calzado on percussions, Tony Palumbo on bass guitar, Harley Warren on keyboards, Farhan Remy on trumpet, and Eriko Murakami on Trombone. With two power-packed sets planned, Ta-Sur will move their audience to the soulful melodies and electrifying energy that have made Tedeschi Trucks Band a musical icon.

About The Band

Ta-Sur is a new musical experience led by powerhouse vocalist, Dita Jacob and guitar virtuoso, Isuru Wijesoma. Their journey began with a shared passion for pushing musical boundaries and experimenting with the rich traditions of Western and Eastern music. Friends for nearly a decade, Dita and Isuru have collaborated on multiple projects, always driven by their love for creativity and connection through music.

"Ta-Sur" beautifully captures the essence of both DiTa and ISuru's names while also symbolizing the core elements of music—rhythm (Ta from “Taal”) and melody ("Sur"). Ta-Sur blends these two elements with an aim to evoke a rich musical experience to their listeners.

Ta-Sur is composed of an eclectic lineup of world-class musicians with Pablo Calzado on percussions, Harley Warren on keys, Tony Palumbo on bass guitar, Farhan Remy on trumpet and Eriko Murakami on trombone. With over 15 years of combined experience in both local and international music scenes, they bring a wealth of talent and creativity to Ta-Sur.
