A fresh new configuration of the ever-popular Rhythm Rascals Collective is making an exciting debut in Dundee - with guests from Norway, New Orleans and England joining local stalwarts, Roy Percy, Timmy Allan and Ali Affleck.
Join The Rhythm Rascals on a journey through the early history of traditional, classic jazz, swing and blues. They will be exploring the legendary cannon of New Orleans, Chicago and Harlem as well as the mighty blues belters!
A dizzying lineup of some of the top players of the early jazz and blue’s repertoire including Dundee debuts from Tom Ward on piano, New Orleans resident Jonathan Greene on clarinet and Norwegian trumpeter Torstein Kubban. These international guests will be alongside top local players Roy Percy on bass, and Scottish Jazz Award Winners, Ali Affleck on vocals and Timmy Allan on guitar.
Expect a cheeky and vibrant repertoire including Fats Waller, The Harlem Hamfats, Lizzie Miles, Victoria Spivey, Ruth Etting, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton and the mighty Bessie Smith.
