Join us on Sunday, July 12, at Old School for a special concert by Andrea Kuzmich.
For 30 years Andrea has been immersed in the vocal polyphonies of Georgia and Ukraine. Now, in a long-imagined collaboration with Toronto improvisers, she brings these traditions into conversation with jazz, groove and spontaneous creation for a rare concert presentation.
She has performed with a wide variety of ensembles including Tafelmusik, Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Aqua’s Red Rhythm & Blues, Whitney Smith Big Band, Urban Vessel, Element Choir, Darbazi, Kosa Choir and Sing With Ukraine. Her voice can also be heard in the soundtracks of The Witch and In the Tall Grass, and she has collaborated with leading artists from Toronto's jazz, folk, and improvising music communities.
On July 12 Andrea takes the stage with the fresh grooves of Shalva-Lucas Makharashvili on bass and voice, and veteran jazzer Jamie Stager on trombone for an evening of boundary-crossing folk-jazz fusion, rich vocal textures, and musical discovery.
