About this Event

Survivors Writing Workshops

We're running a winter series of creative writing workshops for self-defined survivors of sexual trauma, domestic abuse or who thinks they may benefit.

Dates:
4th & 18th November

2nd & 16th December

T ime: 6.30 - 8.30pm

Location: St Gluvias Hall, Penryn

Female,Lesbian,Intersex,Non-Binary,Trans&Agender space.

When booking, you are booking onto the 4 part series. If you can't make it to all the sessions, please don't worry - they make sense alone and together. You can also attend if you have attended one-off or series' workshops in the past.

Learn new tools and practices for writing in a trauma informed, safe space. The workshops are held in an accessible venue.

The workshops are trauma informed and designed to give survivors the tools to take away and write - but there's no obligation to write specifically about your trauma. It's a safe space, held by fellow survivors, where the impact of trauma is understood and given room.

The facilitator has a level 3 counselling diploma and an MA in creative writing, is safeguarding trained and is an experienced facilitator. We can hold space for you safely.

We'll explore methods such as journalling and free-writing, using prompts and more over the course of 4 sessions.

No writing experience is necessary, as this workshop is focused on providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment for everyone. Share your thoughts, explore your creativity, and connect with others who have similar experiences. Bring a pen and a notebook along with you! These can be provided if you don't have one.

A testimonial from an attendee: ” I was grateful that I attended the workshops as they helped me re-engage with coping mechanisms and look at the trauma afresh. Not to lay the trauma to rest exactly, but the workshops helped me refocus through writing on the positives. Abbie provided a safe space and environment for us to be open and be in the knowledge that everyone in the room had experienced trauma and could emphasise with each other. ”

”I have no words to thank you for the space you have created, it has been valuable to an immeasurable extent. The workshops have allowed me to address some well-buried trauma and gave me the strength to continue accepting and healing myself. Thank you so much. ”

"The thing that is radical about these workshops, is that we're here together. We're told we have to face our trauma and work through it alone - even while there are so many others with shared experiences. Being together in the space, facing it as a community - that's what's powerful about Love and Rage."
