Did you know the modern “small satellite” revolution started right here in Surrey? In the late 1970s, a young academic at the University of Surrey had an ambitious idea: to build a new kind of spacecraft – smaller, smarter and more affordable. That idea became UoSAT-1, launched by NASA in 1981, and went on to change how the world “does space”.
Join us for a fascinating evening with Professor Craig Underwood, Emeritus Professor of Spacecraft Engineering, as he tells the story of how Surrey became a global leader in space technology – and how it helped shape what we now call Space 2.0.
A must for anyone curious about science, engineering, innovation – and Surrey’s surprising role in space history.
