“Support the Family”- Alcohol and Other Drug Support Workshop

Support the Family alcohol and other drug (AOD) workshop for local community sector workers.

Facilitated by Family Drug Support (FDS) the Support the Family Workshop is an education and skills‑based training for frontline community sector workers. The workshop is designed to enhance workforce capacity to engage with families impacted by substance use. It focuses on evidence‑informed approaches to supporting families, carers and friends impacted by alcohol and other drug use.

The workshop will assist workers to:

Gain knowledge of effective Models of Change when working with families impacted by substance use

Identify the five stages families commonly experience and appropriate responses at each stage

Improve professional communication with families, carers and friends

Develop skills to build resilience among families and support networks

Understand the importance of psycho‑social education and the barriers faced by families and carers
