Alden Picard, NCWF: We have an IMPORTANT opportunity to help shape Charlotte’s future and landscape. We are urging the City Council to amend the landscaping ordinance so that it will explicitly allow and support naturalistic landscapes, including native meadows and pollinator gardens. Here’s how you can help:
Attend the next City Council meeting in support of the amendment. If you'd like to, you could sign up to speak during the public comment period. But even without speaking, your visible support in the room makes a difference.
When: Monday, September 22nd, 5:30 PM
Where: 600 East Fourth Street. Park on the street or in the S. Davidson Lot (no fee)
What to Wear: Anything that says “nature”, or wear a green t-shirt if you have one.
Bring a Sign: Sample language: “support naturalistic landscapes”, “Protect Nature”, Protect Pollinators”, “Save Nature”, “Save Habitat”, “Save Pollinators” **Signs can be no larger than 20” x 20”
Bring a friend or neighbor who cares about a greener, more resilient Charlotte.
Every seat filled is a clear message: Charlotte wants landscapes that save water, reduce mowing, support pollinators, and bring seasonal beauty to our streets and parks.
Thank you for lending your voice, your presence, and your passion to this effort. Together, we can make this small ordinance change a lasting win for our city.
Let’s grow a Charlotte that works with nature, not against it.
