Abstract:

As state regulators and policymakers, you play a pivotal role in shaping energy policies and ensuring the reliability of our power grid. The North American Bulk Power System (BPS) is one of the most complex systems in the world and arguably, the most essential system society relies upon. From telecommunications, banking and financing, emergency and first responder services, to heating and cooling, our world depends on a reliable and secure BPS. Having a reliable and secure BPS is only possible through learning, sharing best practices and lessons learned, and thoughtful communication and coordination amongst non-profits, government, and the private sector. Without these actions and audiences, tackling challenges such as rapid non-traditional load growth, extreme weather impacts, a changing energy resource mix, supply chain constraints, etc. would be deemed an insurmountable goal.
