The Gayle Harrod Band will raise the roof with their lively mix of R&B, blues, soul, and their original music in a free concert at the Takoma Park Community Center auditorium.
The Baltimore-based band is led by the dynamic and sultry voice of Gayle Harrod, who headlined other blues and classic rock bands before assembling her own team of talented musicians.
With her distinctive phrasing and raucous growl that can rattle the rafters, she is reminiscent of some of the greats like Etta James and Koko Taylor. Her gravelly vocal style makes people sit up and take notice and gets them grooving in their seats or on the dance floor.
The band will play some of their original music from their award-winning album Temptation as well as genre-crossing covers traveling through blues, soul, and R&B. The band has performed at Takoma Station, Collective Encore, and many music festivals. You can hear some of their music at thegayleharrodband.com.
This performance is FREE and no tickets or reservations are required. Donations will be collected to support the band. Doors open at 7 pm, and seating is first-come, first-served. The auditorium closes before the 7:30 pm show time if there is a full house so get here early!
