Sunday Serenades: Matinee Performances with Timeless Charm. From the smooth sounds of jazz to the grandeur of Classical Crossover and Broadway classics, this series invites you to enjoy an afternoon of elegant and exhilarating music.Alain mallet and Edmar Colon present An evening with Duke.
Alain Mallet (Phil Woods, Paul Simon, Caribbean Jazz Project) and Edmar Colon (Terri Lyne Carrington, John Patitucci, Boston Pops) present an evening of music inspired by the work of Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, and other collaborators. The two Grammy winning artists will begin with a set of classic tunes performed in a duo setting. The second half will feature a full band and showcase Duke’s music with a latin jazz twist. Alain and Edmar have been involved with each other’s music for a long time, but this will be their first concerted collaboration around the music of one of America’s most prolific and universally heralded musical genius: Duke Ellington. This is an evening not to be missed.
