In a bleak future where artificial beings are created to serve humans for a limited time, a police operative becomes emotionally attached to a companion android whose programmed lifespan is nearing its end. As her shutdown approaches, his professional duties collide with his personal fixation, leading him to pursue increasingly desperate measures within a system that treats artificial life as disposable property. Set against a decaying, heavily controlled city, the story unfolds as a tragic science fiction romance about attachment, inevitability, and the refusal to accept impermanence.
