There are two words that sum up the best way to get better at something. Deliberate practice. And it is with that in mind that gather on Wednesdays and Sundays to work on doing just that, getting better at paddling.
Now if your already saying to yourself......But I suck at paddling......My boat is a piece of junk......This group is only for advanced paddlers. We are here to encourage you to ignore that innert voice and get on down here. You'll find and inclusive and welcoming group in a diverse set of paddle craft. From Outrigger Canoes, Surfski's, Prone and Stand Up Paddleboards, and kayaks. The worse you are at paddling the better. You'll find the expert paddlers draw inspiration for your energy and can use you as part of their training program.
Here's how it works. We all begin to gather at 6:45am and are on the water promptly at 7am. The goal is to wrap up by 8am but sometimes we may run a little long. You are welcome to come late but be warned our gate is locked so you will need to either know the code or walk over the edge of the bank to gain access to the water. You are welcome to leave early. While this is about getting better its also about keeping stress levels low and having fun doing it.
Each day will be a little different depending on the whims of your group leader or the vocal request of the group. Some days will do laddered intervals. Some days som 3k/5k time trialing. Some days paddle training. Variety in movement is all about getting fit with out being overly repetetive.
There is NO RSVP needed and there is no cost to participate. Rental gear is available but is needs to be coordinated at least the day before.
We'll be pretty disciplined about hitting these paddles every Wednesday and Sunday but life and bad weather happens. To be sure the group is running you can check this post the night before. If there is any change in plan we will update this post at by 5pm the day before. We will also be using Facebook Events so you can check there too.
