🚶 TRAIL TALES
Take a self-guided hike starting at the west trailhead, where a story unfolds along the trail. This week’s featured tale is “Curious About Fossils” by Kate Waters—read as you wander and explore nature at your own pace. (The storytelling continues with a new Trail Tale every month starting in September.)
🔧 TINKERS – Drop in during open hours for ever‑changing, hands‑on, self‑led activities.
📖 TALES – Enjoy our final weekly story read aloud on Monday, August 17 at 2 PM.
🎤 TALKS – A specialist brings each weekly theme to life on Thursdays at 2 PM. On August 20, travel back hundreds of millions of years to a time when Door County was covered by a warm, shallow sea! Join Naturalist Coggin Heeringa for a fascinating program exploring the ancient Silurian seas and the fossils they left behind..
🌼 JOURNEYS WITH JOAN – Summer nature exploration continues with Naturalist Joan Wilkie, at 1 PM on August 18, we’ll discover how plants and animals from an ancient sea transformed into the fossils we find at Crossroads. Suitable for all ages. (This is the final Journeys With Joan segment for the summer.)
