Studio Lighting & Creative Portraiture Workshop

I'm heading to Lebanon, Pennsylvania this September to teach what I love to do – studio portraiture rooted in both solid technique and expressive, sensual artistry. This class isn’t about chasing trends or throwing strobes around hoping something sticks. It’s about intention, control, and creativity. Always.

If you’ve followed my work over the years, you know I’ve been deeply focused on crafting light to match emotion and style in portraits – especially when sensuality is involved. And while the gear and software keep changing, the core of what I teach hasn’t: Learn to see better, light smarter, and create work that resonates.

This class is meant for photographers who want to build something – not just collect images. Yes, we’ll get hands-on. Yes, we’ll be working with a professional model. But the goal here isn’t to pad your portfolio – it’s to challenge yourself to understand what you're doing, why you’re doing it, and how to elevate your vision in a studio environment.

I'll be doing plenty of demonstrating, of course, and breaking down exactly how I approach lighting setups, model direction, scene mood, composition, and color theory in my own work. You'll get one-on-one feedback and I’ll answer anything you throw at me – nothing’s off limits, and all experience levels are welcome.

Info: Light is integral to how a mood is conveyed in a portrait, and how you complement or contrast it is something Nino loves to explore. He will review several lighting setups, and crucially, will explain *why* he lights the way he does, covering the philosophy and vision behind using light in intimate portraiture. Mixing and matching strobes with ambient, and the willingness to improvise with excitement, not disappointment. This is hands-on as well, so be sure to bring your camera and favorite lenses. **All scheduled times are subject to small changes, and all attendees will be emailed if any changes occur**
