STUART FINEMAN, YOELLA RAZILI, ALAN GREENBERG

The LMF Gallery in Sierra Madre will be hosting an exhibition of three Contemporary American Artists, Yoella Razilli, based in Los Angeles; Alan Greenberg and Stuart Fineman, former Californians, both residing near Philadelphia.

These three artists have exhibited together numerous times in larger exhibitions and together as an ensemble in 2021 at Divisible in Dayton, Ohio. The installation of their work together is beautiful and thought provoking in the way that their works play off of each other visually and conceptually. 

Look for parts and sections in their shared use of both fabricated and found materials; the handmade qualities; the attention to color and visual juxtapositions.

In this exhibition Yoella Razili continues her exploration into stacked floor and wall mounted pieces, geometrical forms with organic inspired round edges and a pastel color palette that together create a feeling of softness and calm. They are meant to be contemplated and explored, to find the relationship of materials, color and how they combine to make something felt.

Alan Greenberg’s work likewise explores relationships of materials, shape and form. In these new works he arranges his planer forms of plaster, wood, translucent plastic and other objects on the floor and on shelves in stacked relationships that lean against the wall. These smaller pieces are reminiscent of his large-scale sculptures and installations.

Stuart Fineman’s most recent work has also been exploring new materials and surfaces. The paintings on flat plexiglass or wood panels are seen and experienced in conjunction with painted wall sections or alternative materials such as rubber and metal screen. The direct juxtaposition of “a worked painting’ to a section of “non-painting’ comes together to make a singular concept.
