Strawberry Seeds

dé’men minkanen is a community-driven initiative to honor and share the history of the Potawatomi Trail of Death in Central Illinois. It is led by Madalyn Mann, Francesca Quinn, and Madeleine Mikinski in partnership with the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, University of York, and British Association for American Studies. As a part of this initiative, we are installing informational signs in Piatt County, Illinois, providing information on the Trail of Death's transit through the local area, complete with translations into the Potawatomi language.

To celebrate the installation of the first sign, we are hosting a hybrid event featuring speakers presenting on Potawatomi language, histories, and culture.
