About this Event

How can creativity move beyond representation to actively reshape education and challenge inequality?

This event marks the second iteration of Visualising Justice, a student-led, co-created platform exploring how art, storytelling, and design can function as tools for equity, critique, and transformation within higher education and the creative industries.

Led by LCC Changemakers, the initiative brings together students, staff, and sector partners to surface lived experience as a legitimate form of knowledge — and to test how creative practice can intervene in systems of power, access, and inclusion.

Working in collaboration with partners including SOAS University, Climate Advocates, Digital Champions, and cross-college teams, this year’s programme showcases a growing body of work that connects:

  • Anti-racist and socially engaged pedagogy
  • Inclusive curriculum design
  • Student–staff co-creation
  • Artistic activism and cultural production

At its core, Visualising Justice is informed by a practice-based approach that treats disruption not as opposition, but as a method, grounded in dialogue, reflection, and co-creation.

Part 1: Visualising Justice Symposium

13:00 –16:00 Lecture Theatre B, London College of Communication

The symposium offers a space for practice-sharing, dialogue, and critical reflection across student partnership initiatives.

This year includes a featured exchange with the Bridging the Gap (BtG) Student leaders from SOAS University, creating a cross-institutional conversation on how equity and social justice are being embedded through student-led practice.

Together, participants will explore how collaborative models can move beyond consultation towards meaningful influence on curriculum, culture, and institutional change.

Open to LCC Student Partnership groups, invited partner institutions, LCC students and staff.

Part 2: Artists-in-Conversation & Creative Workshop

16:00–18:00 Information Centre, London College of Communication

The second half of the event shifts from presentation to encounter.

Artists-in-Conversation is a student-led dialogue that rethinks how creative work is shared and understood. Rather than focusing only on finished outputs, this session centres:

  • Artistic process
  • Positionality
  • Lived experience
  • The tensions and complexities of “visualising justice”

Selected artists from the open call will present their work as part of a facilitated, collective conversation, creating space for nuance, multiple perspectives, and peer exchange.

Following this, participants are invited to take part in a hands-on workshop: Storytelling Through Art and Design: Visualising Racial and Social Justice

This collaborative session, co-hosted with the Information Centre, offers an opportunity to experiment with creative methods as tools for reflection, storytelling, and social critique.

Open to all UAL students and recent graduates (limited capacity)

Why Attend:

  • Engage with student-led approaches to equity and curriculum transformation
  • Explore how creative practice can function as a method for social and institutional change
  • Connect with a cross-institutional community of practitioners and partners
  • Contribute to a growing dialogue on justice, authorship, and co-creation in education
