About this Event
Why are some stories and communities underrepresented, and what are some strategies to address the challenges? In this workshop, Joan shares how she came to write the first children's book about a character with a preservative allergy based on her experience of being misdiagnosed. Discuss the motivations, factors, and barriers involved in sharing underrepresented stories as well as how to overcome the obstacles. Learn how to deal with myths and misconceptions, choose the right medium or format, and write a recognizable and memorable story.
This workshop is open to all storytellers at all skill levels.
Panel One Comics Hub @ Sparrow ArtSpace
Panel One Comics Society is transforming Sparrow ArtSpace into a vibrant comic hub. Panel One members from Calgary will work on their comic books, zines and graphic storytelling projects throughout October. Panel One is bringing awareness and exposing the YYC community to the talented comic creators in their backyard. Throughout the residency, our members are bringing collaboration, community and creativity through their residency, workshops and stories.
