Hello and greetings. My name is Brian. I began spending time in the Mat-Su Valley in 2021 when I'd bought a house here. I am at the tail end of a successful computer systems/software engineering career, which had taken various roles/forms while living in Colorado. I began residing here full-time in 2024. Now I am considered a part-time employee and only return to Colorado occasionally when asked.
I have an inquisitive nature. I grew up on a farm in Michigan within a family of 5 children. Annually we'd take a 2-week family camping trip to northern Michigan.
We'd pitch our tents near a small stream, deep in a forest of tall pines, in a spot very far from even the nearest trading post/gas station. During the day, we'd fish for the native brook trout, swim or float in the stream, or just lounge around reading comic books. Evenings would find us sitting around the campfire to eat our meal, followed by the roasting of marshmallows. This always lead into story time. My mom & dad would sometimes recall surprisingly spooky stories from their childhoods or re-tell stories told to them by their parents. Whenever there was a mention a ghost or unusual sighting, my ears pricked up to catch every word. Maybe it was these stories which never had an explanation or closure which lead to my desire to delve into the unusual/paranormal mysteries.
In 2002 I became involved with a small group, called Full Circle, who conducted investigations to gather data and provided it to a U of Texas Prof researching the paranormal. After coordinating with the local Sheriff's Office or building owners, we'd walk through the allegedly haunted buildings or cemeteries in the Denver area at night ... always at night. We'd carry digital cameras, audio recorders, digital thermometers, EMF meters and extra batteries. I went along on about a half dozen of these outings. Yes, it was spooky and yes we did capture unusual activities.
My interests in the UFOs lead me to join MUFON in 2020. Then in 2021 I became both a Field Investigator (FI) and an Experiencer Response Team (ERT) member. I performed UFO sighting/experiencer investigations by conducting witness interviews and reviews of their photo/video evidence, producing case reports for the MUFON Case Management System (CMS). These reports are not available to the general public.
In moving to Alaska full-time in 2024, I left both my full-time employment and my FI/ERT roles within MUFON. However, having a keen interest in the unusual and paranormal mysteries, I am still a MUFON member.
To begin my research, I'll review the history/folklore of the Mat-Su Valley. I'd also like to gather firsthand stories specific to this area. That's where you come in. I wish to interview you, recording your firsthand accounts of the unusual and/or paranormal.
After which, with your permission, I will transcribe it. My intent is to weave these stories together and make them available to the public.
