Join textile artist and educator Bettina Matzkuhn for Stitch Vocabulary, an engaging exploration of embroidery as a creative language.
About this Event

Through hands-on exercises and guided experimentation, participants will learn a range of stitches while discovering how texture, pattern, and mark-making can be used to communicate ideas and tell stories through cloth.

Whether you're picking up a needle for the first time or looking to expand your embroidery practice, this workshop offers a welcoming space to experiment, create, and build confidence with hand stitching.

During this workshop, participants will:
  • Learn five foundational embroidery stitches and how they can be used in creative ways.
  • Explore texture, line, colour, and stitch direction to add depth and movement.
  • View inspiring examples of contemporary embroidery and textile art.
  • Begin planning a small embroidery project with guidance and feedback from Bettina.

All skill levels are welcome. Materials are provided unless otherwise noted. Just bring your curiosity and enjoy an afternoon of creativity and slow making.
