Concert of Colors Neighborhood Programs, in partnership with the Arab American National Museum, presents:
Still We Sing: Omar Offendum's Little Syria- Featuring special guests Lubana Al-Quntar and Layan Srour.
Join us for the Michigan premiere of Little Syria, a multimedia performance by award-winning rapper and poet Omar Offendum.
Set against the backdrop of New York City's historic Little Syria neighborhood, once home to one of the largest Arab immigrant communities in the United States, the performance blends hip-hop, live Arabic music, and the centuries-old Hakawati storytelling tradition to explore Arab American history, identity, and belonging.
The evening also features internationally acclaimed Syrian soprano Lubana Al-Quntar, celebrated for her fusion of Arabic and operatic traditions, and Detroit-based interdisciplinary artist Layan Srour, whose work explores memory, place, and belonging.
This feels Facebook-event appropriate: enough context to explain why Little Syria matters, but not so much that people stop reading halfway through.
