Steve Young + The Real Time Players' are a four piece Rock/Blues outfit that is best described as a band with head nodding grooves, filthy guitar riffs, hooky choruses, face melting guitar solos and a lot of good banter with the audience
Steve's 4th album 'Famous For A Day' is a welcome return to the style of music that inspired him as a teenager but with a great sense of the musical journey he’s been on for the last 30+ years. ‘Famous For A Day’ was released March 6th on CD & Vinyl and on all digital platforms on April 4th 2025
Early TV appearances with Lionel Richie & Peter Andre soon led to full time touring duties with world famous artists - most notably Savage Garden front man Darren Hayes which took Steve on trips around the world performing at the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena, Brisbane QPAC, LA Roxy and many more concluding as co-writer on Darren's last album in 2012
In May 2024 Steve became the centre of a global news story as the world's first participant in a new mRNA Cancer Vaccine Trial. His face was seen on every major newspaper & TV channel across the world. A few days later he was invited to meet King Charles III and the Queen Consort during their visit to London's UCLH MacMillian Centre. Watch News Story HERE
Since writing and releasing the ‘Little Things EP' in 2014, and crowd funded debut Album ‘Troubadour' in 2016, Steve has performed at The London O2 - Country 2 Country Festival. Time Out London's 'Rising Stars of UK Country' Multiple shows at the Edinburgh Free Fringe, recorded live for Bob Harris' - Under The Apple Tree Sessions, opened for Carlene Carter (daughter of Johnny Cash's wife June Carter) as well as opening sets for Broadway Star - Ramin Karimloo, UK Blues Artist - Jo Harman, Brit Award winner Tom Odell (Help Refugees), folk singers Charlie Dore, Reg Meuross and many solo gigs & tours around the UK
His songs have enjoyed radio play around the world including BBC Radio 2, BBC Regional Stations, Radio Caroline, Chris Country Radio and 100's of community / online stations as well as a live performance on BBC Radio 2 to an audience of approx 7M listeners in Nov 2017
In 2017 Steve was Caffe Nero’s ‘Artist Of The Month’ playing over 45 in-store-performances from Aberdeen down to Portsmouth. Tracks are still play listed in all 850+ shops UK wide to this day. Festival appearances include: The Isle of Wight Festival, Country 2 Country, The Cornbury Festival, Buckle & Boots, TogFest, Ventnor Fringe, Folk On The Dock, The Black Deer Festival, Millport Country Music Festival, The Little Rabbit Barn, Hard Rock Cafe London, The Great Escape Brighton & Goatfest
His last studio album 'A Little North Of Nowhere’ was released in September 2018. Self produced and featuring many of the UK’S most exciting country session players and artists, the album has proven to be Steve’s strongest songwriting offering yet
In 2019, inspired by the Paul McCartney film 'Kisses from Hollywood', Steve recorded a full live album with a 7pc band in front of a small audience at his local studio in Stevenage. The whole album was recorded and filmed in one day. Featuring stunning versions of My Son and Integrity the album has become a firm favourite with followers across the globe
During the pandemic, grounded along with the rest of the world, Steve began a 'Song A Day' project which, for 75 consecutive days, consisted of a regular lunchtime performance enjoyed by fans from Australia to Canada, Italy to Norway and numerous countries in between. This then developed into 'Steve's Sunday Service' which he still preforms to this day when gaps in his every growing gig schedule allow. For the one year anniversary of Sir Tom Moore's passing Steve performed 100 songs back to back, for over 5 hours, raising hundreds of pounds for local domestic abuse charity Safer Places
