About the Steve Fox: Steve Fox is the winner of the Rick Bass Montana Prize for Fiction, the Zona Gale Award for Short Fiction, The Great Midwest Writing Contest, the Jade Ring Award, the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters Fiction Contest, and the Midwestern Gothic Summer Flash Contest. His fiction has been read on Wisconsin Public Radio and appeared in New Ohio Review, MQR, Whitefish Review, and others. His short-story collection, Sometimes Creek, was published by Cornerstone Press in January 2023 and received the 2023 American Book Fest Best Book Award, was a finalist for the Chicago Writers Association 2023 Book of the Year Award. His newest story collection, These Are My People (Cornerstone Press), published December 2025, was named Finalist for the Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award. Steve lives in Wisconsin with his wife, three boys, and one dog.
About Laura Bird: A Milwaukee native, Laura Anne Bird is the middle grade author of Crossing the Pressure Line and Marvelous Jackson. She lives in Madison with her husband. These days, their house feels pretty quiet since all of their kids are away at college. Laura serves as an ambassador for Wisconsin Book Festival, and she's co-founder of the Great Midwest Book Group. Laura is active on Instagram @laura_at_the_library, where she posts book reviews and celebrates all things literary.
