Nýstofnaður Kammerhópur Laugarneskirkju heldur sína fyrstu tónleika í kirkjunni laugardaginn 14. mars klukkan 17:00.
Hópurinn var stofnaður með því markmiði að flytja og vekja athygli á fallegri kammer- og kirkjutónlist og gera hana aðgengilega sem flestum. Meðlimir hafa einnig áhuga á að skapa hlýtt samfélag í kringum tónleikana sem og notalega hverfisstemningu.
Á fyrstu tónleikunum flytur hópurinn tvö Stabat mater verk eftir Pergolesi og Vivaldi auk sónötu eftir Vivaldi. Stabat Mater er miðaldaljóð frá 13. öld, jafnan eignað Jacopone da Todi. Það hefst á orðunum “Stabat mater dolorosa” – „Stóð móðirin harmþrungin“ – og lýsir Maríu við kross sonar síns. Í kjarna textans er ekki aðeins trúarleg játning heldur djúp mannleg reynsla: móðir sem missir barn sitt, sorg sem engin orð ná utan um, og löngun til að deila byrðinni.
Þótt textinn sé sprottinn úr kristinni hefð hefur tónlistin sem hann hefur innblásið víðari merkingu. Tónskáld á borð við Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Vivaldi, Arvo Pärt og Antonín Dvořák hafa túlkað ljóðið á ólíkan hátt, en sameiginlegt er að tónlistin talar beint til tilfinninganna. Hún krefst ekki trúar; hún krefst aðeins hlustunar.
Í tónunum birtist sammannleg reynsla – sorg, samkennd, varnarleysi og von. Fyrir trúað fólk getur verkið verið bæn en fyrir aðra verður það spegill eigin lífsreynslu. Þannig getur Stabat Mater orðið brú milli trúar og veraldar, þar sem tónlistin sjálf verður tungumál sem allir skilja.

The newly founded Laugarnes Church Chamber Ensemble will hold its first concert in the church on Saturday, March 14 at 17:00.
The ensemble was founded with the aim of performing and drawing attention to beautiful chamber and sacred music, making it accessible to as many people as possible. The members are also interested in creating a warm community atmosphere around the concerts, as well as a welcoming neighborhood spirit.
At the inaugural concert, the group will perform two Stabat Mater settings by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and Antonio Vivaldi, as well as a sonata by Vivaldi.Stabat Mater is a medieval poem from the 13th century, traditionally attributed to Jacopone da Todi. It begins with the words “Stabat mater dolorosa” – “The sorrowful mother stood” – and depicts Mary at the cross of her son. At its core, the text is not only a religious confession but a profound human experience: a mother losing her child, a grief beyond words, and a longing to share the burden.Although the text arises from Christian tradition, the music it has inspired carries a broader meaning. Composers such as Pergolesi, Vivaldi, Arvo Pärt, and Antonín Dvořák have interpreted the poem in different ways, yet what unites them is that the music speaks directly to the emotions.
It does not necessarily require faith; it requires only listening.In the music, a shared human experience emerges — sorrow, compassion, vulnerability, and hope. For believers, the work may be a prayer; for others, it becomes a mirror of their own life experience. In this way, Stabat Mater can serve as a bridge between faith and the secular world, where music itself becomes a language understood by all.
The Chamber Ensemble of Laugarnes Church wishes the concert to be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial situation.
