About this Event
We’re excited to introduce our new seasonal workshop series at Sake & Tapas Central on Granville Island, launching this April. Designed for both sake lovers and curious beginners, this immersive experience brings together flavour, learning, and hands-on fun.
Hosted multiple times throughout the year, each workshop features a unique seasonal theme, offering something new to discover every time. You’ll explore how to prepare and pair beginner-friendly Japanese-inspired bites with sake in a relaxed, guided setting.
Enjoy three curated selections of our small-batch sake, crafted with locally grown, pesticide-free and herbicide-free rice that we exclusively cultivate for our sake right here in the Lower Mainland.
We’ll explore the bright character of our crisp Junmai Nama, the smooth depth of our Junmai Nama Nigori, and the lively sparkle of our Junmai Nama Sparkling, while learning what makes each one unique. The workshop also includes rare behind-the-scenes access to see where they are made.
Sen of Kintoki Sweets will guide you through a cultural cooking experience filled with distinctive Japanese flavours and hands-on fun. This spring edition brings a fresh twist to an iconic seasonal favourite, hanami dango, the cheerful sakura-viewing mochi dumplings traditionally enjoyed under the cherry blossoms. We’re giving these classic picnic sweets a glow-up, reimagined with creative flavours and thoughtful touches designed to pair deliciously with the sake.
As part of the workshop, guests will enjoy a guided tour of Canada’s first sake production facility, offering insight into the craftsmanship behind every bottle. Attendees will leave with the recipes, new skills, and the confidence to impress friends with what they have learned and can recreate in their own kitchens to pair with their favourite sake along with a fresh appreciation for savouring the seasons in the Japanese tradition.
Everything you need for the workshop will be provided, including complimentary drink tickets. You’re welcome to bring an apron if you’d like to keep your clothes extra clean.
