Join us for a special evening to celebrate the opening of Michaela Yearwood-Dan: The Practice of Liberation, the artist’s first UK institutional exhibition.

Be among the first to experience this major new show, presented alongside the Whitworth’s spring programme:

  • Beneath the Great Wave: Hiroshige and Hokusai
  • Delaine Le Bas: Un-Fair-Ground

Enjoy a relaxed, social atmosphere as the gallery comes alive for the season, with all exhibition spaces open. Discover bold and thought-provoking works and spend an evening immersed in creativity.

Spring exhibitions

Michaela Yearwood-Dan: The Practice of Liberation
A multi-dimensional installation exploring themes of joy, resistance and care through richly layered paintings and sculptures.

Beneath the Great Wave: Hiroshige and Hokusai
Step into Japan’s floating world and encounter two visionary artists whose work has shaped how we see nature, landscape and everyday life.

Delaine Le Bas: Un-Fair-Ground
A major solo exhibition following the artist’s Turner Prize nomination (2024), bringing together painting, embroidery, film and performance, rooted in feminist practice, folklore and Romany heritage.


During the event

  • Please note that the Whitworth Café will be closed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
  • A cashless bar will be available for refreshments.
  • The Whitworth Shop will remain open throughout the evening.
  • For conservation reasons, food and drink are not permitted in the exhibition galleries.

Photography and videos

We will capture photography and video content throughout the evening for promotional purposes on the Whitworth channels, if you do not wish to be included, please let a member of our Visitor Team know.
