As the Spring Equinox brings balance between light and dark, join Growing Understandings & friends at Brookfield Meadow, Highams Park for a free day shaped by river, woodland and renewal.Held on International Day of Trees, this gathering invites people of all ages to plant seeds in simple handmade pots to take home, try river dipping in the River Ching to discover what lives beneath the surface, and explore the trees and plants of the surrounding meadow and forest.
Paula from Urban Forest Tribe will be offering hapa zome flags and bunting, along with bark and leaf rubbings.
Jess from Woodlarks will be making mini nests and sharing knowledge about the birds of the woodland.
Paula and I, Michael Holland, are both Rangers for London National Park City, whose support helps make this event possible.
There may also be a gentle weaving of threads through the day as Feral Crayon’s StitchHike passes nearby.
When: Saturday 21st March 2026
10am–3pm
Where: Brookfield Meadow, beside the River Ching, Highams Park.
Between the ends of Gordon Avenue, Alders Avenue and Vincent Road E4.
