Join Golden Eagle Audubon for a scenic photography trip to the Great Blue Heron and Double-crested Cormorant rookeries at Pamela Baker Park. Our walk follows the river through a beautiful stretch of riparian habitat, offering plenty of opportunities to photograph birds and enjoy the landscape along the way. Field trip leaders will provide advice on camera settings and photo composition, while helping you capture images of birds in a lovely spring setting. Long lenses are recommended as we will be photographing across the Boise River into the rookery.
As we make our way toward the rookery, we’ll keep an eye out for a variety of bird species that frequent the river corridor. The trail begins on a paved path before transitioning to a gravel path that winds along the water, with peaceful views and natural surroundings throughout the walk.
The outing is approximately 3 miles round trip, making it a comfortable walk with plenty of time to stop, observe, and capture photographs of these impressive colonial nesters and the wildlife that share their habitat.
