Welcome to a unique experience of relaxation and rejuvenation hosted by Micheal Fothergill. Join him at his Gong Studio near Blyth Northumberland, most wednesday evenings for an extraordinary session that serves as a psycho-acoustic gateway to a transformative inner dimension. By blending the ancient power of the Shaman or medicine drum with the soothing vibrations of the Ocean Drum. Please note this same event will be available at the Newcastle Quaker House from September 2026.
Micheal provides a portal to heightened states of consciousness and cellular regeneration. Whether you are a seasoned meditator or new to sound healing, this event is perfect for anyone looking to unwind, de-stress, and reconnect with their true peaceful nature.
For this special session Micheal uses Native American Rattles, and Shamanic Drum, with combined with the Ocean Drum to bring you a mesmerising session like no other.

The Journey: What to Expect
Micheal will hold space for this rhythmic and melodic interplay of ancestral sounds, intended to foster self-healing and spiritual renewal.
- Preparation & Meditation: Micheal's native american Rattle sets the scene as we begin with a few minutes of modified breathwork, with a short Qigong "Inner Smile" meditation, directing healing energy to the chakras and any areas of the body requiring specific attention.
- The Shaman’s Drum: The transition into the essential transformation experience is brought on by the shamanic drum. Its therapeutic and transformational qualities, known since the Bronze Age, provide the entry point for self-recovery. These sounds are expertly used to alter brainwaves to Alpha and Theta states, helping to pull negative or stagnant energies from the subconscious to the surface.
- The Ocean’s Wash: Once these energies have been released, the gentle, immersive sounds of the ocean drum begin the "wash". You are figuratively "bathed" and cleansed on the inside—emotionally and physiologically. These vibrations synchronise the brain's hemispheres and activate the body’s natural drive to heal itself, resulting in a profound sense of bliss and timelessness.
- As our journey continues profound levels of peace and calmness as well as unconditional absolute love can flow through and around us, reaching right into our heart.
- Time itself can become distorted making the session feel shorter or longer for some. but eventually it does come to an end, as the Drums falls silent. This is not an empty silence however, it is a sacred silence, created by the Instrument sounds fading away, leaving the Sound Space full of intense profound healing power. Many people find this part of the session the most powerful and Micheal will give you time to absorb this energy as you slowly return to Earth.
- As you slowly come back down to Earth, your body will be waiting for you, but it will feel diferrent, Less Stressed, more Balanced, Uplifted & Energised. Most people say they feel lighter, & happier, having Sensed & Felt the Warmth and Love of the Universe.

We Each Have a Little Drum Beating in Our Souls
Sound therapy is a very powerful tool, helping us unplug ourselves from the hectic grid, and activate, and modify our states of consciousness in a positive way, to readjust the bodies natural rhythms, release tension and energy blockages, and bring inner calm and stillness, where deep healing can then occur. The powerful sound and vibrations flow through and saturate our body energetically, emotionally, mentally, physically, and even spiritually. The Drumming helps connect the neuro-pathways between our left and right hemispheres of our brain. So, when the logical left hemisphere and the intuitive right hemisphere of our brain begin to pulsate together, our inner guidance system or intuition becomes stronger, and elevating us into the Universe to connect with our higher selves, and benevolent beings from higher dimensions.

Preparation
- Try to avoid; any large meals or alcohol prior to the event.
- Arrival; The event starts at 7pm but you are welcome to arrive before this.
- Attire; Loose comfortable, layered clothing will accommodate changes in body temperature and ensure your comfort.
- Items to Bring; There is nothing you need to bring for this session except yourself. Please feel free to bring any crystals you have which will be cleansed by the high vibrations from the instruments.

Benefits of Drumming
Drumming, especially when used with breathwork quietens our minds further, helping to deepen our levels of calm and relaxation, as the brain releases positive happy hormones to help us feel good, while reducing our blood pressure, lowering tension, stress, and anxiety, and even reducing pain in the body.
It has a calming positive effect on our central, and Vagus nervous systems.Reducing anxiety helps release any stagnant negative energy that has become blocked in our body and energy system. This allows us to receive deep healing and transformation.

As a qualified Crystal Therapist Micheal prepares all the crystals in advance for each individual session. For this session Clear Quartz crystals are available for you to hold during the session. They are tasked with connecting you to Micheal's Selenite towers which act as powerful transmitters, to help bring the universe into your body together with the Reiki energy. Inside the body they help harmonise all of your chakras, working at a vibrational level that is attuned to your own specific requirements.

Experiencing Energies
In the protection and safety of the Gong Space, harmful negative energies seccumb to the more abundant and powerful positive energies being integrated into every single cell of our body. However more sensitive people may recall, and even feel the memory of the issue surrounding the negative energy before it enters into a state of collapse. This applies to other therapies,but more so with combined Sound and Reiki healing. Where this happens it can cause brief moments of anxiety, grief or sadness for some people, before those harmful negative energies fall away and collapse. Micheal will advise you at the start of the session that this can happen, and if it does to restart your deep belly breathing and inner smile which will act to ground you as well as minimising any anxieties.

Happy Feel Good Hormones
The brain releases several “feel-good hormones.” These happy hormones evoke euphoria and excitement in our minds.These include dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and oxytocin. Is It Safe For Me?
Crystal, Reiki and Sound healing combined together are generally considered safe for most people, regardless of age or fitness level. However as a precaution they may not be recommended during pregnancy, or those diagnosed with epilepsy, seizures, or some mental health conditions, especially when taking prescribed psychotropic drugs.
This also applies to anyone who has a pacemaker or other electrical or mechanical device fitted. For those who wear a hearing aid it is recommended that these are turned down to avoid any discomfort. For those with any other medical condition and feel concerned please speak to your G.P, Consultant or medical practice before booking your place.

Free Distant Reiki Sessions. This event includes 7 Distant Reiki Healing sessions starting from the Monday and up to the following Sunday. This will help improve your energy further, and helping to maintain your higher Vibration for longer. Micheal will send your Reiki between 8 and 10pm each evening.

Behing The Scenes While time restraints do not permit this now at the Newcastle Quaker House, many of Micheal's events at his Gong Studio include this Behind The Scenes option for guests. Once your session has ended you can ask as many questions as you like, share eperiences(only if you want to) and even try the instruments yourself all while having a hot herbal tea of your choice, before heading off home.
