Read Kate Chopin's shocking "The Awakening", a novel that startled readers and shook up social norms, speaking about the unspoken experience of societal pressures and the repression of the Victorian woman. Although Auburn Heights was technically built in the Victorian period of 1897, it was just at the cusp of the Edwardian era where literature and society began to see the emergence of the "new woman", educated, driving, and pursuing careers. We will discuss all this and more at this month's meeting. This is the perfect opportunity to meet new people and get involved in your local history-lovers community!
