Mark your calendars for our next Spicy Sips book club on Friday, March 27 at 5 p.m. to discuss “Fourth Wing,” a steamy adventure about dragon riders at a war college.From the expansive mind of writer Rebecca Yarros, “Fourth Wing” takes place in the fictional Kingdom of Navarre. As a nation, Navarre has been at war for 400 years with the neighboring Kingdom of Poromiel. In this brutal battle for power, Navarre is incredibly militaristic and mandates that young adults attend the Basgiath War College to become dragon riders, scribes, healers, and infantrymen. “Fourth Wing” follows the story of 21-year-old Violet Sorrengail, who is forced by her mother to enter into the riders quadrant at Basgiath. Having originally planned to study as a scribe, Violet is frail and unprepared to survive the deadly training required of the dragon riders.
As the ruthless general’s daughter, she must endure dangerous quests and competitions while also trying to avoid the wrath of the quadrant’s most ruthless rider: Xaden Riorson. While both Violet and Xaden fight their way through Basgiath, the two begin to realize they might have more in common than they thought. Full of addictive action, a sexy enemies-to-lovers dynamic, and suspenseful plot twists, “Fourth Wing” is a truly amazing blend of romance and fantasy.
