About Your Instructor: Nicole Lazar
As a multinational dance champion in roller skating, Nicole’s greatest joy is sharing her passion and knowledge for technique with others to find their own joy with skating. Having started at the age of 7, she began group roller skating classes, private lessons, and touring the country at competitions; even qualifying for the Olympic Training Center, under the wing of many top-tier coaches in the world. She enjoys making friends and meeting new people who are interested in learning their body in motion, allowing their soul to sing on skates, and socializing with others at the roller skating rink. Nicole is currently a Coach at Fountain Valley Skating Center.
About Your Host: Marisa Hamamoto (Founder, Infinite Flow Dance)
Marisa Hamamoto started roller skating during the pandemic, Summer 2021, out of a mental health crisis. Since then, skating has become a joyful mindfulness activity she does regularly that has helped her in many aspects of life. A few months into her skating journey, she joined the Fountain Valley Artistic Skating Club and has competed as an amateur artistic skater for health, fun, and self-improvement. As an INCLUSION-ist, Marisa's brain is wired to think, "Who is not included? Who is not served?" And this is when the idea for "Spectrum Skate" emerged.
Formal Bio:
Marisa Hamamoto is the first professional dancer named People Magazine “Women Changing the World.” A leading authority on disability inclusion and building a culture of belonging, Marisa was recently named LinkedIn Top Voice, and has been featured on Good Morning America, NBC Today, Forbes, Fast Company, amongst other media outlets. She is the founder of Infinite Flow Dance, an award-winning dance company and nonprofit that employs disabled and nondisabled dancers with diverse, intersectional identities, with a mission to advance disability inclusion, one dance at a time.
