What makes a great salsa dancer on the dance floor? This once a week program at OC Salsa will cover all aspects of Social dancing: Smooth Lead & Follow, Musicality, Body movement & Styling. This program is designed to fast track progress by building the skills through repetitions and drills to get dancers and students of Intermediate Level the tools to Become and amazing Advanced Social Salsa Dancer.
WHEN: Wednesdays 7pm-9pm Starting 3/5/2025 FREE TO TRY OUT First Day.
WHO: All Intermediate Level Social Dancers wishing to improve and become advanced dancers. Directed by OC Salsa instructor Xiu Nguyen from OC Salsa.
LENGTH: Season will End August/September 2025. There will be an optional students showcase at OC salsa Saturday (date to be determined) where students can demonstrate their new acquired social dance skills . Once enrollment ends no new students will be allowed to join until next season
WHO QUALIFIES FOR TRYOUT: Intermediate Salsa Dancers/ Students with social dance experience, who can comfortable lead and follow, stay on beat to the music constantly (on1), have a solid lead and follow technique, they keep the line and slot, and who currently feel comfortable on the dance floor ad looking to grow and became advanced.
If you are interested and qualify based in the requirements, please come to the trial first day. No pre registration needed, but please come 30 minutes prior to register for the First Day Trial . We start every practice on time.
To maintain the level and quality of training , only students that qualify will be part of the training program. Not everyone who tryout will qualify for the advanced training. However new training season will start once every 5-6 months should students wish to prepare and come to our next season.
FIRST DAY: The first day of training will be a regular practice day for students to see how the class training will be conducted.
Students will meet the instructor, meet each other and start learning the drills and moves that will regularly be done at every class while learning new moves/styling & shines. All students will be let know if they made the training program at the end of the first session.
Students who are selected will be sent a text with a link the next day to register for the course. You will have then 24 hours to register (that requires the payment of the month).
GOALS: To get intermediate dancers confidence and tools to become advanced social salsa dancers through learning new challenging moves like triple and multiple spins, solo spins, barrel turns, variations, body movement, rhythm & musicality, shines, styling while perfecting and improving their lead and follow techniques. Also promoting camaraderie, closeness within the same group and friendship and most importantly having tons of fun within friends. NOTE: This is not a performance showcase team. No costumes needed. This is 100% Social Dancing. There will be a Dance Exhibition (optional ) at OC Salsa at the end of the Season. Date to be determined.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: This program will open up once every 5-6 Months so students from Intermediate Salsa Level can join in once they are ready. Student who are selected to be part of the program will receive a detailed course syllabus of will be covered over the course of the training.
COST: FREE TO TRYOUT FIRST DAY . $129 Monthly If students joins. Advanced Training Students monthly payment includes all OC Salsa Classes (Mon- FRi) , Wed & Fri Parties, Bootcamps & The OC Salsa Performance Training Team w/ Arthur (mondays 7-9:30pm Starting 3/17) Students can only try free one time

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Has been dancing latin styles for 15 years including Salsa, Bachata, and Afrocuban movement. Xiu has traveled, danced, trained and taught all over the world from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia to right here in Atlanta, Phoenix, Vegas, Salt Lake, New York, Chicago, and all around California. Xiu is also an accomplished Zumba instructor and well known in her city in Vietnam for bringing Zumba to Saigon and helping to build and pioneer the Salsa scene there. Xiu has been part of numerous LA salsa dance companies and teaches in the local community with regular classes in and around LA and Orange County. Xiu is a resident instructor at OC salsa.
