About this Event
Galls are an often overlooked part of nature. Many insects cause plant galls but they can also be caused by other organisms. Some of the most interesting and beautiful galls are caused by a family of wasps, the gall wasps. Many of these galls are found on oaks and Edgewood is a great place to discover their strange and wonderful forms. Join Friends of Edgewood docents Paul Heiple and Caroline Bowker on this special gall discovery hike that will open your eyes to something you may have never known existed. This hike starts from the Clarkia Trailhead on Cañada Rd. at Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve.
Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Consider sunscreen, a hat, and snacks. There are no restrooms or water available at this trailhead. Please plan ahead.
All participants, including children, must be registered individually and have approved the liability waiver through Eventbrite. Details on where to meet will be emailed to participants before the event.
We will still hike in light showers, but heavy rain cancels this hike.
