Speaking Confidence Series: Mastering Pauses

The most compelling speakers understand one key tool: silence.

For many speakers, a pause can feel like forever, and we become victim to the urgency we feel to react quickly when put on the spot. The ability to pause comfortably (sometimes even strategically) can tremendously increase a speaker's level of confidence and intentionality.

Trusting yourself to speak with intention, think before you speak, and not give in to the pressure to rush fosters confidence in any speaking environment. These skills transfer to social settings, intimate conversations, corporate presentations, and casual meetings.

Join us at Distillery 98 for an interactive workshop designed to improve your speaking prowess. Learn how to command attention, emphasize key points, and create impact through strategic pauses. This in-person event is designed to boost your confidence and elevate your public speaking abilities.

The workshops in this series are designed to stand alone - so even if you haven't attended other events, you won't be behind!

If you have attended previous classes, this workshop will build on what you've already learned.

About the instructor:

Tricia Veldman, MS CCC-SLP is a local spoken word poet and professional speech coach with over 9 years of experience helping individuals overcome their deepest fear: public speaking. Having considered herself frustratingly timid for most of her life, Tricia battled her own speaking anxiety and now has the privilege of guiding others to do the same. She gave a TEDx Talk in 2023, shares weekly guidance on her YouTube channel, and recently published her first poetry book.
