Our goal is to promote more frequent multi-club interactions to facilitate the sharing of ideas, testing of interpretations, and developing the region both in HEMA and socially. Our preliminary idea is to have monthly sparring camps with a general structure of:- Short workshop
- Sparring based games with learning goals
- Open sparring
- An occasional, for fun, silly mini tournament
The secondary feature of these sparring camps is to gather funds in order to fly out a big ticket instructor. The idea is that these instructors will run a short workshop of their choosing, but focus primarily on coached sparring with everyone for the weekend.
A tentative schedule for this upcoming 8 hour camp on January 26th:
- 10-11 Check-in & setup
- 11-12 Workshop - Judging workshop run by Julian Schuetze
- 12-2 Sparring games - Focus on Judging & Clean Fencing
- 2-3 Lunch
- 3-6+ Open Sparring
There is no primary focus on swords for this event, please bring whatever you would like to spar with! We will be conducting gear check prior to participation, make sure you have appropriate levels of protective equipment. Participants with insufficient protection will not be allowed to participate. If unsure, email us to double check! All swords cannot exceed a flex of 19kg, the lower the better.
We are billing $50 to facilitate this - this price includes facility rental & contributes to the instructor pool.
