SPACE TO SHINE: School Supply & STEM-Centered BLOCK PARTY

Space to Shine is a one-day, joy-filled back-to-school celebration for kids and families in Altadena! Designed to uplift local youth with moments of joy, discovery, and belonging, this free event features interactive STEM-based activities, creative stations, and live DJs to keep the energy high all day long. Students can enjoy music, movement, tech -- all in a safe and supportive space.

We're also giving away free school supplies to help families get a strong start to the school year. Whether your child is learning to make slime, dancing to the beat, or finding their new favorite book, they’ll be reminded that their brilliance matters.

Every student is allowed to bring up to 2 guests (a parent/guardian or siblings). Please note: students must arrive during their designated grade-level time. If a student arrives earlier than their assigned block, they will need to return during the appropriate window in order to receive their supplies and participate in activities. This helps us make sure every child has the best experience possible.

This event is especially created for Altadena-area families, including those facing challenges — because every kid deserves the space to shine, all LA families are welcome. Tickets guarantee entry, if you can’t make it please refund your ticket so another family can benefit.

Info: K–4th Grade Time Block
This time is reserved specifically for elementary school students in grades K–4. Each student ticket includes entry, a backpack with school supplies, and one meal for child only. Every student is allowed to bring up to 2 guests (a parent/guardian or siblings).

Info: This zone is designed just for middle schoolers to grab backpacks and join in hands-on, age-appropriate activities. Students will receive backpacks stocked with the supplies they need for the school year, plus take part in interactive stations that support creativity, confidence, and connection. Come through for a backpack drop with real supplies you’ll actually use — plus interactive STEM stations, creative workshops, and giveaways designed to set you up for success.
