Join us at 5pm for the 2025 NE GA Science Symposium Opening Ceremonies!

Young Singers Chorus performs The Star-Spangled Banner and North Gwinnett High School AirForce JROTC presents The Colors. 🇺🇸

There will be a brief opportunity to see the Model Trains in the Train Depot, purchase dinner and/or start creating your rocket.

Just before the presentation, we’ll judge the evening’s T-shirt Contest.

T-shirts are judged on 1. Theme (tonight is Space), 2. Originality, 3. Legibility, 4. Truth, 5. Humor. Audience applause determines the winner. Our prizes are Magnificent! 🏆

Then at 6pm, Brian Olson, self-proclaimed “Space Nerd” presents Space Exploration 2025 where we’ll learn all about geosynchronous satellites, historical weapon mistakes, air traffic polar routes, moonwalks, SpaceX, the global horizon, and MORE!!

This is an INTERACTIVE, family-friendly, NERD-level presentation. Children of ALL ages are welcome!

Children ask some of The Best questions! ❤️

.. and doors exist so noisy, bored, or over-tired children can be re-located. 😉 Please be considerate of other’s ability to hear and interact with the Speaker.

Mr. Olson has arranged for friends from NASA and DishNetwork to send takeaways to his presentation.

We don’t know what they are. He won’t tell us.

His presentation concludes with 10-15 minutes of questions from the audience. YES! You are welcome to take pictures with Mr. Olson! YES! Photo ops will be available at the Symposium!

Evening Experiment: After the presentation, we will create and then launch glow-in-the-dark, water-bottle rockets.

There are MANY other activities occurring simultaneously. Everything pauses for the duration of the Evening Speaker. There are Vendors, gem mining, a fossil dig, model trains, a chainsaw artist, Fernbank Science Center exhibits on loan, tactile tables, roving Mad Scientists, Rescue Societies, live animals.. Activities are located all over historic downtown Flowery Branch. The Evening Speaker will be in the Community Room adjacent to the Police Department.

Admission and participation are FREE!!

Food and extra activities for purchase. + FANTASTIC science-related Vendors!
