Join us for the 2nd day of the 2025 NE GA Science Symposium! š¤ What a wonderful family activity, Troop Activity, interesting Date Night or just a good reason to get out of the house!
Come meet new people and learn some interesting Facts! Really tough science in a fun, carnival-like atmosphere!

Events start at 4pm today with our 1st Responders: Police + Firefighters, Department of Natural Resources, Ambulances/ EMTs, and MORE!! Come talk with REAL people! Hear their stories! š Flash the lights, raise the ladder š , whoop the siren all while getting to know OUR Brave men and women serving OUR communities. šŗšø
There are model trains in the Flowery Branch Train Depot, exhibits on loan from Fernbank Science Center, a chainsaw artist, Wreck-A-Wreck, tactile tables, roving Mad Scientists, opportunities to purchase dinner or snacks, live animals, and MORE!!
Before the Evening Keynote Presentation, weāll judge the Daily T-Shirt Contest.
T-shirts will be judged on 1. Theme (tonight is Memory & Music), 2. Originality, 3. Truth, 4. Legibility, 5. Humor. Audience applause determines the winner. Our prizes are Magnificent!! š
Then at 6:30pm, Manolo Alayeto, owner of AMPED Music Schools, presents -
Music & Memory: Increase your intelligence from in utero to āOld-Timerās.ā
A certain song can trigger a memory.. an aroma.. an entire story. Can playing a certain song while studying a specific topic help with recall? Can you reverse Alzheimerās with music? How does movement fit into Memory & Music? Does playing Beethoven during pregnancy actually produce smarter kids?
This is an interactive, family-friendly, NERD-level presentation. Children of ALL ages are welcome!

Mr. Manoloās presentation concludes with 10-15 minutes of questions from the audience.

And Then - experience an Instrument Petting Zoo!
Come hear and then experience a glockenspiel, drums, percussion instruments, alto domra and kontrabass balalaika (Russian stringed instruments), bayan, and other instruments!
Musicians will demonstrate how the instruments sound, and how it looks to play the instruments for real, and then allow attendees to experience the instruments. How much does a trombone weigh? How do you angle a violin bow so it makes a pleasant sound? Can you pluck a harp with your fingers, fingernails, or is there a special pick? What instrument does your child want to learn? What instrument have YOU always wanted to learn?
ALL ages are welcome to experience our Instrument Petting Zoo.
There are MANY activities occurring simultaneously. Everything pauses for the duration of the Evening Speaker. There are Vendors, gem mining, a fossil dig, model trains, a chainsaw artist, Fernbank Science Center exhibits, tactile tables, roving Mad Scientists, Rescue Societies, live animals.. and MORE!!
Activities are located all over historic downtown Flowery Branch.
The Evening Speaker will be in the Community Room, adjacent to the Police Station.
Admission and participation are FREE!!
Food and extra activities for purchase. + FANTASTIC Science-related Vendors!
