A fortnightly traditional Irish session at The Engine Room, Wayfarers Arcade — part of the Southport Sessions programme supported by Arts Council England and Kindred LCR.
Free to attend. No ticket required, but registering helps us know how many to expect. The bar is open. If you enjoy it, buy a drink.
For players Traditional sessions are participatory, not performative. If you play — fiddle, flute, uilleann pipes, concertina, banjo, guitar, bodhrán — bring your instrument and join in. All levels welcome provided you know the tunes. There is no stage.
Getting here The Engine Room is on the first floor mezzanine of Wayfarers Arcade, Lord Street, Southport PR8 1NT. Entry via the arcade or via West Street entrance (56a West St)
£8.50 return trains from Liverpool. £16.50 return trains from Manchester. Journey time approximately 1-1.20 hour. 5 minute walk from the station.
The Southport Sessions Traditional Irish music runs fortnightly on Sundays. The wider Southport Sessions programme includes jazz, country, soul, and folk across Thursday to Sunday each week at The Engine Room.
