ABOUT OUR DESTINATION:
Lobster in Puerto Nuevo is a long-standing tradition for those visiting from the states and is just a short 15-minute drive from Rosarito, MX. Lots of tourists visit for its famous lobster dining as well as a local shopping experience. According to tradition, 2-3 lobster tails are served with beans, rice and homemade flour tortillas, and a traditional Margarita all for around... $35 US dollars! (CASH ONLY)
Paper Instructions for crossing back into the US will be distributed before leaving Puerto Nuevo.
***REQUIRED IDENTIFICATION***
You will NEED a passport OR 2 forms of ID like a state-issued Driver’s license and a copy of the birth certificate or naturalization certificate or resident alien card, or even a recently expired USA passport will work along with your current state-issued license.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE A PASSPORT AND YOU DO NOT NEED PESOS. US dollars will be just fine!!!
While in MEXICO, We will be on the toll roads for a majority of the ride, and there will be at least two toll booths coming and going. Each cost approximately $1.00 to pass per bike. Please have your US dollars/change ready for the toll fee (no pennies).
Road conditions are great on the toll roads and the views are amazing!
Bring extra cash for parking, gifts, or Tequila to take home! (Liquor allowed one bottle duty-free) Don't bring anything larger than a $20 bill and you will need singles and fives. No more than ~ $100 should be needed for this trip. Once in Puerto Nuevo there are about 30 restaurants all serving the same menu around the same prices. There is secured parking & plenty of space. Puerto Nuevo is about a 1/4 mile square so no one will get lost walking around a few square blocks. This is a well-known tourist destination and is generally very safe.
INSURANCE NOTE:
***Please check with your own insurance carrier as many premium carriers provide automatic Baja Mexico Insurance coverage within 60 miles of border crossing. Puerto Nuevo is only 30 miles from the border. If you need to or choose to purchase additional Baja Insurance, the cost of full coverage insurance should be around $30 for the day. You can purchase Baja Insurance when we stop at Chevron in San Ysidro, as there is a Mexican Insurance agency across the street from the gas station, or you can pre-purchase it online.***
PSA, Here's the link if you want to purchase Baja Mexico Insurance online ahead of time: http://www.bajabound.com/
